Black and white film development workshop (Tallinn)
duration — 2-3 hours
for 1-2 people

I'm sure that everyone who is into film photography should at least once try to develop film.
Even if it doesn't become something you do regularly, you'll know what happens during development, what factors affect the resulting image, and how the processes of exposing and developing film are linked together.
Program
Theory:
- How it works — history and overview of silver-gelatine process;
- How the choice of film and developer affects the result;
- Push and pull processes;
Practice:
- Necessary equipment and chemistry;
- Practicing loading film;
- Practicing film development;
- Possible mistakes and how to avoid them;
- Developing your first film.
The practical part includes practicing everything with an empty film so that you understand and get comfortable with the whole sequence of movements. You will develop your real first film by yourself, I will only be there to help if you need it.

Where, when, price
Where: Tallinn, my cozy home film lab in Kalamaja, ten minutes from Balti Jaam. Yes, we're going to be developing in my bathroom. Yes, it's normal and it's convenient.
Damn good coffee (or tea) included.
When: We’ll choose a convenient time for you. The workshop usually lasts 2-3 hours, you’ll be able to pick up the film the next day when it’s dry (or on the same day in a few hours). As a bonus — I can scan your negatives.
Price: 40 € for one/ 60 € for two. Price includes all equipment and chemistry needed. You need to bring only a roll of exposed film.

If you wanted to try development but weren't sure — I recommend developing your first film with someone else: this way you will better understand the process, and what equipment you need (and won't buy anything you don't need). I will tell you about different approaches and their advantages, so it will be easier to choose your way.
You will also see how to setup your own film lab at home.
